Intranets and Extranets
Especially an asset, if you wouldn't like all the employees which may be computer illiterate, to browse through a file server, to search for the documents they may need. By providing them with a graphical interface to the items and having all shortcuts and addresses available in one central location, employees can find the objects they need quicker and with less effort.
An intranet is a page grouping the company's documents and procedures provided in the form of a website where you can find company information, online telephone list, emails, documents, leave forms and other company related material.
An intranet can only be accessed from within the company premises or network, so there is no risk of sensitive information being stolen from the internet or outside world.
An extranet is the same as an intranet but this is available to employees from outside the company premises.
